LightHTTPd Web Server
lighthttpd is the system default web server that serves the UI.
It’s settings can be modified directly in the UI.
The Apache server that will be installed by following the tutorial will require the default system ports 80 (the HTTP port), and the 443 port (the HTTPS port) to be free from use.
We will ensure that the lighthttpd service does not use those ports.
Note
Although there should be no issues with using arbitrary numbers, other than 8000 and 8001, as the lighthttpd ports, this tutorial assumes that the ports have been changed to 8000 and 8001.
In Settings, General, Management, set the values to 8000 and 8001 respectively.
Warning
After changing the port, the NAS will only be reachable with the new port number. For example: https://nas.example.com:8001/
