Asustor Home Lab

This section of the documentation focuses on transforming an Asustor NAS into a home lab as extensively as possible.

Asustor provides an application store called AppCentral, which offers a wide range of installable applications. Unfortunately, many of these applications cannot be configured freely, and several useful tools are absent.

Asustor is also very selective about which applications are accepted into AppCentral. Applications without a user interface, or those that duplicate existing packages, even with substantial differences, always have their submissions rejected.

For these reasons, packaging and installing applications via sideloading provides a practical way to deploy the tools we need.
